About the event
Join Forestry England’s ecologist Andy Harris and Quantock Hills AONB Manager (and confirmed bat enthusiast) Iain Porter as they open up the night time world of Great Wood on this gentle 1.6 miles (2km) walk around Ramscombe.
The walk will use forest roads to explore the forest, looking and listening for the fantastic beasts that make this their home. The woodland is teaming with wildlife and Andy and Iain will introduce you to the amazing abilities of the animals using the woods at night and some of the ways in which we can find them.
Under 16's are free but must be accompanied by a paying adult and please book them a ticket so we know how many people to expect. This walk would be suitable for age 6+ due to the distance and timings.
The walk will start promptly at 7.00pm at the Events Room, Ramscombe in Great Wood and finish at approximately 9.00pm. The events room can be found at grid ref – ST1681 3763, What3Words: whiplash.clouds.obvious or postcode TA5 1HW (please note postcode covers a wide area and different sat navs take you to slightly different locations. A car park and toilets are adjacent to the events room. The walk is approximately 1.6 miles / 2km in distance and will be using the forest roads / tracks.
Please remember to bring a small torch and wear suitable clothing including walking shoes/boots.
(No dogs allowed on this walk please).
