Time & Location
15 Apr 2026, 10:00 – 14:30
Staple Plain, Taunton, TA44EB
About the event

The 15th April is traditionally known as Cuckoo Day - a day when we can expect the arrival and sounds of cuckoos on the air. The date or arrival will change from year to year, however, this date is a great chance for us to see if we can search out the sounds of spring arrivals on the air. Perhaps we can even try and get a photograph of the birdlife and cuckoos as we go on a Photo Walk for Cuckoo Day.
This walk will be around 4 miles in length and hilly. Wear sturdy walking boots and clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day and remember to bring your own refreshments, especially a drink if its warm.
Safety:
Participants are responsible for their own health and safety in preparation and taking part in the event and for assessing their own risk, the safety of themselves and the suitability of any equipment used during the walk. If you are unsure, please contact Jon our Community Engagement & Volunteering Officer at: jonathan.barrett@somerset.gov.uk
Any medical conditions that may affect the participants during the walk should be notified to the walk leader prior to the start of the walk.
