About the Event

Saturday 18th September 2021 at 7pm

Join Forestry England’s ecologist Andy Harris and our Quantock Hills AONB’s bat enthusiast Iain Porter as they open up the night time world of owls and bats on this gentle 1.6 miles (2km) walk around Ramscombe.

The walk will use forest roads to explore the forest and how bats, owls and other creatures make this their home. The woodland is teaming with wildlife, you just need to look and listen carefully.  Andy and Iain will introduce you to this area of Great Wood and explore how animals use this habitat during the hours of night.

Under 16's are free but must be accompanied by a paying adult and please book them a ticket so we know how many people to expect.  This walk would be suitable for age 8+ due to the distance and timings.

The walk will start promptly at 7.00pm at the Events Room, Ramscombe in Great Wood and finish at approximately 9.00pm.  The events room can be found at grid ref – ST1681 3763, What3Words: whiplash.clouds.obvious or postcode TA5 1HW (please note postcode covers a wide area and different sat navs take you to slightly different locations.  A car park and toilets are adjacent to the meeting room.  The walk is approximately 1.6 miles /  2km in distance and will be using the forest roads / tracks.

Please remember to bring a torch and wear suitable clothing including walking shoes/boots.
