About the event
Join our team of rangers to discover the outstanding delights of the Quantock Hills after dark. The woodland is teaming with wildlife, you just need to look and listen carefully, remember a torch and suitable walking shoes/boots. Under 16's are free but must be accompanied by a paying adult and please book them a ticket so we know how many people to expect. This walk would be suitable for age 8+ due to the distance and timings.
The walk will start promptly at 7.30pm at Warm Corner, Great Wood (Grid reference ST 1675 3644, postcode TA4 3HE or What3words pool.dragonfly.trickled) and will finish at the same location at approximately 9.30pm.
There is limited parking at Warm Corner so please park with care. One of the walk leaders will be on site to help direct you. If parking is not available there is additional parking at Triscombe Stone car park which is approximately 400m south west.
Iain Porter, Quantock Hills AONB and Andy Harris, Ecologist with Forestry England will introduce you to this area of Great Wood and explore how animals use this habitat during the hours of night.
The walk is approximately 4.5km and we will be taking a gentle walking pace with plenty of stops. The route has a short section of single track path with the rest being on forest roads. We recommend good stout footwear, trousers and appropriate clothing to the weather conditions. It is advisable to bring a small torch as well.”
