Somerset Nature Connections is a partnership project that aims to tackle some of the barrier that prevent people experiencing the health and wellbeing benefits of the National Landscapes spectacular nature environment. The project will help people to access these natural spaces with a focus on support mental wellbeing and physical activity. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Hinkley Point C Community Fund, Somerset Council and other local funders the project will work with communities affected by high levels of deprivation and social isolation. Delivery will be through the running of small gourp programmes in the National Landscape to build people's capacity to more effectively self-manage their mental health using the Five Pathways to Nature Connectedess. The project will also upskill and enable community groups to be able to access natural greenspace, and along with training of volunteers, will ensure a legacy to continue the work when the project ends. Somerset Nature Connections is a partnership project between the three Somerset National Landscapes, Quatock Hills, Blackdown Hills and Mendip Hills with the Somerset Wildlife Trust.
