More info:
The Land Management Skills Scheme will provide funded training in rural skills to young people, unemployed and local communities. The training will include skills most required by countryside contractors such as chainsaw, first aid and brushcutter and will build a skilled workforce to be able to undertake land management to conserve and enhance the Quantock Hills into the future.
The Project is currently paused while learning from the first phase is built into subsequent phases. We will be looking to provide grants to eligible people / communities for them to undertake accredited rural skills training. The training we are looking to support includes:
🌿First Aid
🌿Manual Handling
🌿Brushcutter
🌿Pesticides & spraying
🌿ATV
🌿Chainsaw
Working with the funders we are currently developing the criteria and grant application process and will update the website when the project goes live later this year.
If you are interested in rural skills training, live within or near the Quantock Hills National Landscape and feel that training would benefit your employment prospects please contact us to be added to our mailing list for further information at quantockhills@somerset.gov.uk
