The Levels Up Project was a Somerset based project spearheaded by the Somerset National Landscapes - AONB's (Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills, Blackdown Hills) and partnered with Avon Wildlife Trust Avon Rivers Trust, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Somerset West & Taunton Council and the South West Heritage Trust.
The project worked across the 3 National Landscapes - AONBs enhancing nature recovery networks between the hills and the Levels. Works included restoration of important grassland habitats through enhanced grazing and enhancing and creating woodlands. Secondary works included training opportunities for young people and land managers.
On the Quantock Hills there were four sub-projects that enhanced over 230Ha of existing woodland, created 1.8Ha of new woodland, enhanced 16Ha of acidic mire habitat and provided 2 training programmes, engaged 42 volunteers and 69 young people.Â
