An exciting new walk book has just been launched with twelve walks exploring the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Part of the ‘Seriously Not Boring’ walking book series developed by local authors Sue Gearing and Les Davies, the book allows people to explore the wonderful Quantock Country as well as providing a host of activities for people of all ages.
The walks range from between 2.4 to 5.2 miles and are based on the hilltops, the coast and the historic fringing farmland allowing readers to explore areas of the Quantock Hills usually hidden from visitors. Unlike most walks books the Seriously Not Boring range also include a host of activities that can be undertaken while of the walk to increase enjoyment and teach new skills.
Iain Porter, AONB Manager, said “We know that after the last few years, families and local communities are wanting to get out and explore the Quantock Hills. This book gives a great opportunity for families and others to explore some of our less well known but equally fascinating countryside.”
Author Sue Gearing says “It has been great fun exploring the Quantock Hills for this book. Over the last 2 years we have walked so many miles before deciding on the 12 best walks to put in the book. Building on our experiences with our other ‘Seriously not Boring’ books we are so excited to be launching this book now and hope lots of families enjoy exploring this wonderful part of Somerset.”
Author Les Davies says “We have had so much fun developing this book with the AONB. It has been great trying out the activities and seeing some of the wonderful hidden gems the Quantock Hills has to offer. We truly hope our readers enjoy the walks as much as we have!”
The book will be available to buy from Brendon Books in Taunton, Somerset or to purchase a copy of the Seriously Not Boring Quantocks Country Walks Book for £5.00 direct from us, please contact the Quantock Hills team via email at: email@example.com
As part of the book launch you can join authors Sue and Les who will be leading a guided walk of one of the routes from the new book on Thursday 18th August at 10am. More information will be available soon on the events page of our website Events in the Quantock Hills AONB
