Since 1991 the Quantock Hills AONB Service has assisted the Quantock Deer Management and Conservation Group to coordinate the annual deer count.
Unfortunately, on the day of the count half the survey area was down to 50m visibility in places, not great when you want to count deer. However we had almost 50 volunteers out that morning, and we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who joined us at dawn for the count.
Jochen Langbein (Wildlife Consultant) has pulled together the results, which are available if your follow the link to the QDMCG website. http://www.quantockdeergroup.co.uk/QDM_Count1.html
Sadly we can’t make overall comparisions with the previous 20 years of results but it’s still interesting to have a look.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who were involved in the count, and lets hope that the weather is kinder next year.
