Wild Stories for Wild Children

Torrential rain threatened to put a bit of a ‘dampner’ on this popular AONB Service event.
Morning and afternoon sessions were provided and plenty of children (accompanied by their respective adults) were booked on both. The day began with everyone arriving in a torrential rainstorm … this was going to be fun! However, the large tarpaulin taken out for people to sit on made a wonderful rain shelter! Things could only get better!
The old woodland on the slopes of Cothelstone Hill provided an atmospheric environment for stories about wolves, dragons and Merlin! Professional storyteller Clare Viner once again kept the children and grown-ups spellbound with her legends, myths and local folk tales about the Quantock Hills.
Improvement in the weather provided stunning views from the top of the hill with dramatic storm clouds all around. A very atmospheric and enjoyable day had by all!
NB: There is another opportunity to hear Clare on Saturday 18th September at Fyne Court. This time, if the weather is inclement, the event will be held indoors. Check out the details on our events page.

Tick Leaflet
Ticks are becoming more common and a bite from this spider-like parasite could lead to Lyme Disease. This is a treatable infection caused by bacterium transmitted by ticks when they bite. Not every tick carries Lyme Disease and it is important to realise that the disease is relatively rare.
