On top of the world….

- Rangers were out in the winter wonderland that was Cothelstone Hill this morning.

On top of the world…. As we do every morning we were checking on the herd of Exmoor Ponies, and having to break the ice in their drinking trough.  Andy was with some volunteers who were working on a task, clearing bramble from the pony corral.

The weather conditions were rather stunning to say the least.  The summit of Cothelstone Hill stuck out clear and sunny above a county shrouded in freezing mist below.  The snowy tops of the Brecon Beacons could be seen across a world of dense fog clouds shrouding the Bristol Channel.

Conditions are like this from time to time, however Andy and myself have not seen it quite so beautiful for a good couple of years.  Not only were the hilltops bathed in ‘alpine’ sunshine, the trees were covered in a coating of frozen hoare frost.

However bitter winter can be, its harsh beauty is truly awe inspiring.

Wow, nice title. I agree with Russel. Yes, though winter is harsh but it has its own beauty. Thanks Russel for a nice posting.
