Frozen Planet
- Our ancient oaklands need some anti-freeze...

It appears that climate change has already reached the Quantocks! The ‘deep freeze’ has already arrived in our ancient oak forests.
The Gulf Stream must have flipped as predicted and we have been thrown into another Ice Age (Ice Age 3?). Perhaps David Attenborough should run his next series here.
No really folks … the deep freeze was a temporary one, just another example of fly-tipping!
Volunteers Dave Pusill and Chris Tilley helped me retrieve this unwanted and carelessly dumped freezer from our beautiful Quantock woods at Five Lords.
What is wrong with people?
The AONB Team are keeping records of all of the fly-tipping that we are aware of in the AONB. Please let us know if you find any or have noticed particularly vulnerable hot spots for this criminal practice.

Tick Leaflet
Ticks are becoming more common and a bite from this spider-like parasite could lead to Lyme Disease. This is a treatable infection caused by bacterium transmitted by ticks when they bite. Not every tick carries Lyme Disease and it is important to realise that the disease is relatively rare.
